About Karate Budokan

Building Strength, Discipline & Champions for Life

We are a more than a global training network; it is a sanctuary for those seeking to sharpen their bodies and fortify their minds. Since our inception, we have served as a bridge between the ancient traditions of the East and the evolving needs of the modern world.

We don’t just teach martial arts; we cultivate the “Budokan Spirit”, a unique blend of technical precision, unshakable confidence, and deep-rooted discipline. With a presence spanning continents, we remain dedicated to the idea that every student, from the young beginner to the aspiring master, is on a transformative journey toward their best self.
Chew Choo Soot

Founder

Chew Choo Soot

Mr. Chew Choo Soot was born on the 7th of February, 1922, in the quiet northern town of Alor Star, a city steeped in culture and tradition in Peninsular Malaysia. His earliest years were shaped by loss — his father passed away while he was still too young to hold even a single memory of him. Raised by his grandfather, a deeply learned Confucian scholar who carried the classical values of old China with great conviction, young Chew Choo Soot grew up in a household where education was sacred and the life of the mind was considered the only worthy pursuit.

His grandfather was a man of books, principles, and structured discipline. Physical training held no place in his philosophy, and martial arts were regarded as a path entirely unworthy of a young man’s time. The household he presided over was one of quiet study and intellectual expectation — and for the early years of his life, that was the only world young Chew Choo Soot knew.
